About 150 Ryukyuan and American students were guests at a soiree held Thursday night at the Naha Ryukyuan-American Cultural Center. Sponsored by the Stone Gate Club and the English Clubs of the University of the Ryukyus and Okinawa University, the gathering was held to provide an opportunity for Ryukyuan and American college students to meet and became acquainted with each other. The soiree featured community singing, social games, square dancing and Okinawan dances and karate exhibitions. Many of the American students attending the social gathering are spending the summer vacation with their parents on Okinawa.
【和訳】 アメリカ、琉球の学生が懇会で会う
木曜日の夜、那覇琉米文化会館で開かれた夕べの集いには、約150人の琉球人とアメリカ人の学生が来場した。ストーンゲートクラブ、琉球大学と沖縄大学の英語クラブが主催したこの集会は、琉球とアメリカの大学生が出会い、知り合う機会を提供するために開催された。夕べの集いは、地域の歌、ソーシャルゲーム、スクエアダンス、沖縄のダンスや空手の非公式試合などが行われた。懇親会に出席するアメリカ人学生の多くは、両親と夏休みを沖縄で過ごしてる。
