The Naval Officers' Wives' Club of Okinawa presented a motorbike to the Nago Health Center Aug. 24 in a brief ceremony held at the Welfare Div., Health, Education and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus. Mrs. Richard M. Edwards (L), president of the club, is shown explaining the operation of the bike to Mrs. Fusako Wakugawa (C), chief nurse, Welfare Dept., Government of the Ryukyu Islands and Miss Saeko Uechi, chief nurse of the center. The bike will be used by Miss Kazuko Nakazato, a public health nurse, Iheya station of the health center, in carrying out her responsibilities of improving the level of health in remote areas of Iheya.
【和訳】 原動機付自転車の贈呈
沖縄在米海軍将校婦人クラブは8月24日米国民政府教育厚生局で名護保健所に原動機付自転車を贈った。写真は同婦人クラブの会長リチャード・M・エドワーズ夫人(左)が厚生局の湧川房子看護婦係長(中央)と名護保健所の上地さえ子看護婦課長に操作方法を説明しているところ。この原動機付自転車は交通不便な伊平屋住民の保健の増進をはかるために伊平屋公衆衛生看護婦駐在所の新里和子さんが使用する。
