The Fort Buckner Women's Club (FBWC) and the Kadena Officers Wives' Club, which are affiliated with the Ryukyuan-American Welfare Council (RAWC) recently presented a washing machine and drier together costing $2,000 to the Okinawa Crippled Children's Hospital (OCCH). Shown checking the new washing machine delivered to the hospital are (L-R); Miss Masako Oshiro, social administration advisor, Welfare Div., Public Health and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus; Mrs, William C. Aven, publicity chairman, and Mrs. James Samiljan, president, both of the FBWC; Dr. Shiro Yamada, director, OCCH; and Mrs. Donald Grimes, assistant welfare chairman, FBWC. This year, the RAWC provided the hospital with fans and a sum of $2,108 to remodel its wards into a physio-therapy room.
【和訳】 米婦人クラブが洗濯機と乾燥機を贈呈
フォートバックナー婦人クラブと琉米福祉協議会に所属する嘉手納婦人クラブは近日、2,000ドルの費用をかけて洗濯機と乾燥機を沖縄整肢療護園に贈呈した。園に届けられた新しい洗濯機の確認をするのは左から、米国民政府厚生教育局の大城昌子福祉担当者、ウィリアム・C・アヴェン夫人(広報委員長)、ジェームズ・サミルジャン夫人 (嘉手納婦人クラブ、琉米福祉協議会の会長)、山田之朗博士 (沖縄整肢療護園園長)及びドナルド・グライムズ夫人 (嘉手納婦人クラブ福祉委員長)。今年、琉米福祉協議会は病院に扇風機の贈呈と合計2,108ドルをかけて、病棟を理学療法室に改築した。
