Mrs. James B. Lampert, wife of the High Commissioner, visited the Okinawa School for the Blind in the Shuri area of Naha on April 22 as part of her familiarization tours of local medical and welfare institutions. Mrs. Lampert was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Hester L. Hill; Dr. Gordon Warner, chief, and Yoshitaka Kakazu, AID program specialist, both of the Welfare Div., Health, Education and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus; and George K. Sankey, language aide to the High Commissioner. Mrs. Hill is residing with her parents, High commissioner and Mrs. Lampert, while her husband is serving in Vietnam. Upon arrival at the school, Mrs. Lampert was greeted by Principal Koki Miyagi and his staff. Mrs. Lampert was briefed by the principal on the school's organization, purposes, operation, budget, and vocational placement of the blind. She observed activities in all class rooms of the school.

ジェームス・B・ランパート高等弁務官夫人は、沖縄の医療福祉施設訪問の一環として4月22日、沖縄盲学校を訪問した。ランパート夫人には娘のヘスター・L・ヒル夫人、米国民政府厚生教育高のゴードン・ワーナー福祉部長と嘉数能隆氏、およびジョージ・K・サンキー高等弁務官付き通訳官が同行した。ヒル夫人は、夫が現在ベトナムに赴任しているので、その期間中、両親のもとで生活している。ランパート夫人は、宮城康輝校長や職員等に迎えられた後、宮城校長から学校の組織や運営、予算、盲人の職業紹介等に関する説明を受けた。その後、弁務官夫人は各教室の学習活動を視察した。
