The Fort Buckner Women's Club recently donated $600 to the Okinawa Crippled Children's Home for the construction of a fence around the home. A brief ceremony was held today to mark the start of the construction. Helping laying the first cement blocks is Mrs. John D. George, welfare committee chairman of the Fort Buckner Women's Club. Others in the picture are (l to r): Dr. Shiro Yamada, director of the home; Ringa Teruya, secretary; Kenboku Kudaka, deputy director of Social Affairs Department, Government of the Ryukyu Islands; Akira Kina, chief of welfare section, Government of the Ryukyu Islands, and Hiroshi Higa, contractor constructing the fence.

フォートバックナー婦人クラブは近日、沖縄の不自由な子供の入所施設(ホーム)の周りにフェンスを建設するために600ドルを寄付した。本日、工事開始を記念して短い式典が行われた。最初のセメントブロックの敷設を手伝っているのは、フォートバックナー婦人クラブの福祉委員会委員長のジョン・D・ジョージ夫人。写真には(左から)、山田之郎氏(施設長)、テルヤ・リンガ氏(秘書)、クダカ・ケンボク氏(琉球政府社会局次長)、喜名章氏(琉球政府厚生局総務課長)と、フェンスを建設する請負業者のヒガ・ヒロシ氏。
