Walker Cisler, President of the Detroit Edison Company, visited Okinawa on Aug. 6 as part of his tour through southern and eastern Asia. Mr. Cisler was the guest of the Ryukyu Electric Power Corporation and the Takunan Steel Company. He was entertained by Gerald Warner, Civil Administrator of the Ryukyu Islands, briefed by Lt, Col. W. H. Beauchamp, chief of USCAR Public Works Dept., and conducted on a tour of the operation of the new Kin Power Plant. The purpose of Mr. Cisler's Asian tour is to evaluate the need for and progress of industrial development in those countries. His tour has already included Iran, India, Laos, Thailand, South Viet Nam, and Taiwan. Mr. Cisler departed Okinawa on August 7 to attend talks in Tokyo, Japan.
