Civil Administrator Gerald Warner (R) is shown cutting a ribbon Sept. 30 at the dedication ceremony of the new Ryukyu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Building. The construction of the modern five-story building (with four floors above-ground) was completed at a total cost of $300,000, including a $150,000 loan from the Ryukyu Development Loan Corporation. The balance of the cost was financed by the Government of the Ryukyu Islands, Naha City and contributions from the members of both the Ryukyu and Naha Chambers of Commerce and Industry. At the ceremony, the civil administrator said the new building marks a "significant step in the continuous advancement of the economy. National income from commerce and industry reached an all-time high of $265.5 million by the end of June 1966. this result could not have been achieved were it not for the ingenuity and determination of Okinawa businessmen."
