CA HOSTS RECEPTION FOR OUTGOING CE - Civil Administrator Stanley S. Carpenter hosted a reception for outgoing Chief Executive and Mrs. Seiho Matsuoka at the Top of the Rock Club, the former Fort Buckner Officer's Club on Nov. 26. The reception was attended by High Commissioner F. T. Unger; Deputy Chief Executive Yoshinobu Akamine; Legislatives Speaker Yasukuni Yamagawa. Also attending were the three representatives of the Advisory Committee to the High Commissioner of the Ryukyu Islands, Mr. Laurence C. Vass of the U.S. , Mr. Jiro Takase of Japan, and Mr. Hiroshi Senaga of the Ryukyu Islands. Prior to presenting a silver tray and goblets to Mr. Matsuoka, Mr. Carpenter praised Mr. Matsuoka's achievements in economic development, social welfare and the labor field. He added Mr. Matsuoka's vision, sincerity of purpose, and determination were instrumental in guiding the people along the path to democratic and political maturity which has culminated in the first public election of a chief executive of the Ryukyus.

民政官主催の行政主席退任レセプション - スタンリー・S・カーペンター民政官は、11月26日にトップオロッククラブにて、退任する松岡政保行政主席及び松岡夫人のためのレセプションを開催した。レセプションにはF・T・アンガー高等弁務官、赤嶺義信行政副主席、山川泰邦立法院議長が出席した。また、高等弁務官に対する諮問委員会の代表3名、米国代表のローレンス・C・ヴァス氏、日本政府代表の高瀬侍郎氏、琉球政府代表の瀬長浩氏の3名が出席した。松岡氏に銀のお盆と杯 が贈呈されたのに先立ち、カーペンター氏は松岡氏の経済発展、社会福祉、労働分野での功績を称賛。また、松岡氏のビジョン、真摯な目的意識、決断力は、人々を民主的、政治的に成熟した道へと導いてきたと述べた。
