Four Prominent Hawaiian jurists are conducting a judicial procedure workshop for Ryukyuan judicial personnel in Naha. The visiting Hawaiian instructor-trainers in the workshop are Mack Hamada, deputy prosecuting attorney for the city and county of Honolulu; Yoshimi Hayashi, former U.S. attorney for the state of Hawaii; Frank Takao, chief magistrate of the Honolulu District Court; and Geor Koga, attorney and vice chairman, counsel for the city and county of Honolulu. They arrived Oct. 10 and will stay here until Oct. 23. The field training program aims at providing the Ryukyuan participants an opportunity to become familiar with American jurisprudence with greater emphasis on its criminal laws and procedures under the jury system. It is sponsored by the Institute for Technical Interchange (ITI), East-West Center, Honolulu, in coordination with the U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands (USCAR) and the Government of the Ryukyu Islands. USCAR is providing the round-trip transportation for the Hawaiians, and ITI, all other expenses during their two-week stay on Okinawa.

来島中のハワイの著明な法律専門家4名が、沖縄の司法関係者のために司法手続研修会を行っている。講師団の顔ぶれは、ホノルル市郡庁副検事マック浜田、前ハワイ州検事ヨシミ林、ホノルル地方裁判所首席判事フランク高雄、ホノルル市郡庁検事兼法律顧問団次長ジョージ古賀の4氏である。一行は10月10日来島し、10月23日まで滞在する。司法研修会の目的は琉球政府の司法関係職員、その他検事、判事職を志望する人達にアメリカの法体系、特に刑法および陪審制度下の刑事訴訟手続についての知識を与えるためである。同計画は東西文化センター技術交流研究所の主催、民政府と琉球政府の後援で行われている。民政府は講師団の往復の旅費を負担し、また、技術交流研究所は一行の二週間滞在中の費用を負担する。
