in Hawaii; Hiroshi Oshiro, attorney and counselor-at-law, Honolulu; and Mack Hamada, first deputy prosecuting attorney, and Lincoln Ishida, first deputy corporation counsel, both of the City and County of Honolulu. The ITI teacher-trainers are holding the first field training project in judicial procedures in Okinawa sponsored by the ITI, EWC in coordination with the U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus and the Government of the Ryukyu Islands. The two-pronged object of this program is to provide Ryukyuan participants with further opportunities to familiarize themselves with American jurisprudence through field training as discussion leaders, panel members and instructors. At the same time, the project aims at providing the visiting lawyers with opportunities to become more familiar with the Okinawan judicial system, methods and scope of operation. Following a two-week program in the Ryukyus, the group is scheduled to depart for Hawaii on Sept. 29.
【和訳】 ハワイからの弁護士一行
9月25日にハワイからの弁護士たちによる表敬訪問を受けるスタンリー・S・カーペンター民政官 (中央) 。左から、ハワイ東西センター技術交流研究所 (ITI) ジェームズ・C・ハバード事業担当官、弁護士で法律カウンセラーのヒロシ・オオシロ氏、マック・ハマダ第一副検察官、リンカーン・イシダ第一副顧問弁護士一行はハワイ在東西文化センターの後援及び米民政府、琉球政府の協力で、沖縄で初めて訴訟手続の実地研修を行っている。この研修は二つの目的を持っており討論会、小研究会、講義を通じて沖縄側の参加者に米国の法律を学ばしめ、又、ハワイ側の講師に沖縄の法制度、その運営、適用範囲について学ばしめるものである。2週間にわたる訪問の後、一行はハワイに向け9月29日沖縄を出発する。
