NEW CIVIL ADMINISTRATOR Robert A. Fearey arrived at the Naha Civil Air Terminal Aug. 21 with his wife and their three youngest children. Two other children are studying in the U.S. Minister Fearey was greeted by High Commissioner James B. Lampert; Minister Eddie W. Schodt, U.S. representative to the Advisory Committee to the High Commissioner; Deputy Civil Administrator Edward E. Bennett; Deputy Chief Executive Choko Chinen; and other Ryukyuan and American officials. At the air terminal, Civil Administrator Fearey said, "My family and I are delighted to be in Okinawa. I am looking forward very much to working under General Lampert and in close association with Chief Executive Yara and others in official and private life here in the islands. Okinawa has made tremendous progress over the past 24 years. I shall do my best to help maintain and accelerate that progress in the context of continuing movement, consistent with mutual security interests, toward the reversion of the Ryukyuan people to their Japanese homeland," he added.
