The Kokuba Stevedoring Company and the All Okinawa Harbor Transportation Unions (KOUNRO) reached a labor agreement on June 28 through mediation provided by the Labor Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands (USCAR). The marathon bargaining session lasted over sixteen hours. The company and union signed the agreement in a brief ceremony held at the USCAR Labor Dept., on June 29. Shown signing the agreement are (L-R): Kotaro Kokuba president, Kokuba stevedoring Company: Carleton H. Faler, director, (mediation) Labor Dept., USCAR: and Soichi Akamine, chairman, KOUNRO. According to the agreement, regular and temporary employees will receive an hourly pay raise of six cents and four cents for male and female respectively. Employees will hereafter receive the following amounts for combined Obon and Year-end bonuses: 1. All regular male and female employees will receive three hundred fifty (350) percent of one month's wage per annum. 2. All temporary male employees will receive two hundred twenty-five (225) percent of one month's wage per annum. 3. All temporary female employees will receive one hundred eighty (180) percent of one month's wage per annum.

國場組港運会社と全沖縄港湾運輸労働組合 (港運労) は6月28日、琉球列島米国民政府労働局が提供する調停を通じて労働協約を締結した。16時間以上の長時間にわたる交渉の末、労働協約にこぎつけた。会社側、及び組合側は6月29日、米民政府労働局において協定書に署名した。署名しているのは左から、國場組社長國場幸太郎氏、米国民政府労働局長フェイラー氏、及び港運労委員長赤嶺宗一氏である。協定によると常用の男子は時給6セント、女子は4セントのベアを受ける。又、常用労働者に年間、月給の35割、臨時男子労働者に22割5分、及び臨時女子労働者には18割のお盆と年末のボーナスが支払われる。
