S/Sgt. Jeriel L. Musselman (2nd from L), of the 196th Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), 196th Ordnance Battalion, 2nd Logistical Command, received a framed letter of appreciation from Chokei Kochi (R), director, Police Department, Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI), at the GRI Police Headquarters' office, April 16. Watching the presentation are
(L-R) Harriman N. Simmons, director, Public Safety Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus; Capt. Keyle R. Mabin, commanding officer, 196th EOD; and GRI Police Headquarters Chief Shukuju Arakaki. Sgt. Musselman has "tremendously contributed toward the prevention of accidents and protection of lives of the Ryukyuan people" during the period December 1965 to April 1968, Mr. Kochi said. In recognition of his highly commendable services to both the GRI police and the people of the Ryukyu Islands, the award was presented to him in appreciation of our profound gratitude, the Police Director added.

ジェリエル・L・ムッセルマン軍曹 (左から2番目、第2米軍軍需司令部第196武器大隊第196爆発物処分処理班) は4月16日、琉球政府警察本部で、幸地長恵警察局長 (右) から額入りの感謝状を受け取った。贈呈式を見守るのは左から、ハリマン・N・シモンズ氏 (高等弁務官室公安局々長)、キール・R・マビン大尉 (196爆発物処分処理班司令官)、新垣淑重氏(琉球政府警察本部長)。ムッセルマン軍曹は、1965年12月から1968年4月までの間、「琉球の人々の事故防止と生命の保護に多大な貢献をした」と、幸地局長は述べた。このたびの受賞は、琉球政府警察と琉球の人々のために多大な貢献をされたことが評価されたものであり、深く感謝の意を表したもの。
