Col. M. L. Appleton, G-1, 3rd Marine Div (left center, facing camera), represented Maj Gen James M. Lasters, Sr., commanding general of the Division, in presenting a gift of athletic equipment from the Marines to the Koza Reformatory today. L-to-R from Col. Appleton are Mr. Ryojun Kugai, director, Legal Affairs Dept., Government of the Ryukyu Islands; Mr. Harriman N. Simons, director, Public Safety Dept., Office of the High Commissioner; and USAF 2nd Lt. Charles H. Bailey, special advisor to the High Commissioner on the Koza Reformatory. In left foreground, boys of the Reformatory admire the athletic equipment which will be used in their supervised recreation programs.

M・ L・アプルトン大佐(第3海兵師団参謀第1部)(正面中央左)は本日、ジェームス・M・ラスター・シニア少将(第3海兵師団参謀第1部部隊長)の代理として琉球少年院にスポーツ用品の寄贈を行った。
琉球少年院にて、アプルトン大佐から左は、久貝良順氏(琉球政府法務局長)、ハリマン・N・サイモンズ氏(高等弁務官室公安局長)およびチャールズ・H・ベイリー少尉(米空軍所属高等弁務官特別補佐官)。左の前景では、少年院の少年らは、監督下で行うレクリエーション行事で使われるであろうスポーツ用品に見とれている。
