three mercy missions in one day, a rare occurrence, were taken in stride Feb. 18 by personnel of the Public Safety Department, Office of the High Commissioner, when they were called on to coordinate emergency medical air evacuations of a Ryukyuan sugar mill worker from Yonaguni Island at the tip of the southern Ryukyus, a Japanese sailor off a ship at Miyako Island, and a dockworker from Okino Erabu Island in the Japanese-controlled Amami Oshima group above Okinawa - all victims of accidents and requiring immediate medical treatment on Okinawa.
