New U.S. Representative on Advisory Committee to the High Commissioner of the Ryukyu Islands (2nd from L) poses with other members of the committee after his arrival at the Naha Civil Air Terminal, Dec, 11. Others shown are (L-R) outgoing U. S. Representative Laurence C. Vass, Government of Japan Representative Jiro Takase, and Government of the Ryukyus Representative Hiroshi Senaga. Minister Schodt replaces Minister Vass who is departing Okinawa Dec. 20 for retirement after 34 years of service with the United States Government. Minister Schodt was a member of the United States Foreign Service Inspection Corps when he was named to the Advisory Committee on Nov. 30, 1968.
【和訳】 那覇民間空港に到着後、高等弁務官に対する諮問委員会の他の代表と一緒の米側新代表エデイ・W・シャット公使(左から2番目)。他の代表は(左から)離任する米側代表口一レンス・O・バース公使、高瀬日本政府代表、瀬長琉球政府代表。シャット公使はバース公使の後任で、バース公使は34年の外交官生活を停年退職し、12月20日に沖縄を去る。シャット公使は11月30日、諮問委員会米側代表に任命されるまで米外交調査団のメンバーであった。
