A trophy provided by High Commissioner F. T. Unger is presented to Fumiko Nishihira, first grade student at theShuri Senior High School, winner of the Second Annual Okinawa Junior Chamber of Commerce English Speech Contest, by Dr. Gordon Warner, director,Education Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus (USCAR), Aug. 9at RBC Hall in Naha following preliminary contests in each district of Okinawa. The contest was designed to improve the English comprehension and speaking ability of Ryukyuan high school students. The Jaycees were assisted by USCAR, the Government of the Ryukyu Islands, the English Language Center, the University of the Ryukyus, and the City of Naha.

沖縄各地区で予選が行われ、8月9日,那覇のRBCホールにて行われた沖縄青年会議所後援、第2回全琉英語弁論大会でF・T・アンガー高等弁務官提供のトロフィーが、琉球列島米国民政府教育局々長ゴードン・ワーナー博士より、受賞者で首里高等学校1年のニシハラ・フミコさんに贈られた。同大会は、沖縄の高校生の英語の理解と話す能力の向上のために企画された。青年会議所は琉球列島米国民政府、琉球政府、英語センター、琉球大学、および那覇市によって援助された。
