Chief Executive Seiho Matsuoka of the Government of the Ryukyu Islands receives a framed poster for the "1965 Boy Scout Membership Drive" from Mikio Chinen (L), Boy Scout Troop 250, at a ceremony held on Oct. 4 at the Government Plaza. This troop is sponsored by the Kadena Police Station The drive began on Sept. 15 and will continue through Dec. 31. Chief Executive Matsuoka said he hoped that the boys will become fine scouts and train themselves to be useful in society. During the ceremony, Oct. 12 was declared as a "Uniform Day" for the Ryukyuan boy scouts. Officials of the Ryukyu District, Far East Council (FEC), Boy Scout of America (BSA) attended the presentation: (L-R) Chokei Kochi, chairman of the health and safety committee; Yoshio Nakahara, district executive; Sosei Oshiro, vice chairman of the health and safety committee; Fumio Oyazato, chairman of the camping and activities; Soichi Kayo, member of the executive Board, FEC, BSA; Choshin Kabira (behind the Chief Executive), district commissioner; Kazufumi Uechi, district chairman; Yoshinobu Hosokawa, district executive; and Richard L. Weidman, assistant Scout executive, FEC, BSA.

琉球政府の松岡政保行政主席は政府前広場で10月4日に開催された式典にてチネン・ミキオ第250トゥループ隊員(左)から「1965年ボーイスカウト会員運動」の額入りのポスターを受け取った。トゥループ隊は嘉手納警察署の後援を受け活動している。会員運動は9月15日に始まり、12月31日まで続く予定。松岡行政主席は「少年たちが立派なスカウトになって、社会で役立つように鍛えてほしい」と話した。式典では10月12日は琉球のボーイスカウトを記念して「ユニフォームデー」として宣言された。アメリカボーイスカウト極東連盟琉球地区がプレゼンテーションに出席した。
