High Commissioner F. T. Unger spoke at the First Annual Scouter Recognition Dinner, Southern District of the Ryukyu Islands, Far East Council of the Boy Scouts of America (FEC, BSA) held Dec. 6. Seated are L-R: Vice President Kazufumi Uechi, and Southern District Chairman Yobun Zamami, both of FEC, BSA; and Government of the Ryukyu Islands Chief Executive Seiho Matsuoka. The High Commissioner said in his address, "The Scouting movement is truly a world brotherhood in action. I ask that you continue to "Be Prepared" with all the strength of your hearts and minds and bodies, to continue to assist and encourage the youth of the Ryukyu Islands in helping the fulfillment of their role in this great brotherhood."
【和訳】 アンガー高等弁務官が琉球スカウト隊員に語りかける
12月6日に開催された米国ボーイスカウト極東協議会（FEC、BSA）琉球南部地区第1回スカウト表彰晩餐会で、アンガー高等弁務官がスピーチを行った。座っているのは(左から)、上地一史副委員長と南部地区委員長座間味庸文氏(両氏ともアメリカボーイスカウト極東連盟琉球南部地区)、そして琉球政府行政主席松岡政保氏。高等弁務官はあいさつの中で、「スカウト運動はまさに世界の兄弟愛の活動です。琉球の青少年がこの偉大な兄弟愛の役割を全うできるように、心と心と体のすべての力を尽くして "備えよ常に"を続けてほしい。」と語った。
