Lance Corporal Richard Paul Bowen (L), U.S. Marine Corps, received a Certificate of Commendation from Deputy Civil Administrator of the Ryukyu Islands, Col. Hugh F. Richardson, for his outstanding leadership and meritorious service as an assistant scoutmaster to the Boy Scouts of America, Far East Council, Okinawa District, Troop 106. L/CPL Bowen is also an Explorer Scout. Some 80 parents and scouts attended the Troop 106 Court of Honor, Aug. 22, at the Camp Boone Scout Hut, 40 promotions and awards highlighted the evening's program.

米国海兵隊のリチャード・ポール・ボーエン上等兵（左）が、ボーイスカウト・オブ・アメリカ極東評議会沖縄地区第106隊のスカウト隊長補佐としての卓越した指導力と功労に対して、琉球列島米国民政府副民政官ヒュー・F・リチャードソン大佐から表彰状を授与された。ボーエン上等兵はエクスプローラースカウトでもある。8月22日、キャンプブーンスカウトハットで開催された第106隊の名誉会議には約80人の保護者とスカウトが出席し、40の昇進と表彰がプログラムのハイライトとなった。
