Commanders Jesse J. Cotter (R) of the American Legion and Carl E. Laxton of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) presented checks totaling $15,000 to Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI) Acting Chief Executive Saburo Odo, Oct. 16. The Legion contributed $10,000 and the VFW, $5,000 for the paving of the 2.2-kilometer road leading to the General Buckner Memorial from Highway 3. GRI will also provide $15,000 for the project, which includes the installations of culverts and drainage channels and the construction of retaining walls along the road.
【和訳】 道路改修工事のための寄付金
10月16日、米国在郷軍人会支部長ジェシー・J・コッター氏(右)と海外戦争復員兵協会のカール・E・ラクストン氏は合計15,000ドルの小切手を琉球政府行政副主席の小渡三郎氏へ寄贈。退役軍人会は10,000ドルと海外戦争復員兵協会が5,000ドル、3号線からバックナー中将慰霊碑に通じる2.2キロメートルの舗装のための資金を寄付した。
琉球政府はプロジェクトのためにまた15,000ドルを提供する予定で、排水溝と排水路の設備と道路に沿った擁壁の建設を行う。
