American women's clubs on Okinawa presented scholarships to 72 students of technical senior high school and trade and vocational institutes in central and southern Okinawa areas in a ceremony held at the Naha Trade and Vocational Institute, May 17. This is part of a program to grant scholarships totaling $3,615 to 105 Ryukyuan students as a means of encouraging them to continue their education. Contributing scholarships were the Kadena Officers' Wives Club (KOWC) Fort Buckner Women's Club, Transportation Women's Club and the Naha Officers' Wives' Club. Maj. Joseph H. Rapp, chief, Welfare Div., Health, Education and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus; and Mrs. J. M. Rocke, 2nd vice-president, KOWC, explain the letters of award written in English to the scholarship students.
【和訳】 奨学金の贈呈
在沖米婦人クラブが5月17日、那覇産業技術学校で行われた贈呈式で、沖縄中、南部の工業高校と産業技術学校の学生72人に奨学資金を贈った。これは、沖縄の学生105人を激励する目的で合計3,615ドルの奨学資金を贈呈するが、その一環として行われたものである。この資金は嘉手納将校婦人クラブ、フォート・バクナー婦人クラブ、輸送部隊婦人クラブ、那覇将校婦人クラブから贈られたものである。
