After conferences with Labor Department officials and top leaders of the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), the group will attend a special labor course at St. John’s College, Annapolis, Maryland.
On April 3, upon completion of their six-week course at St. John’s, the team will begin a three-week tour of American industrial centers for a first-hand look at labor unions in operation.
The trade union leaders’ study in the United States is under joint auspices of the U.S. Departments of Defense and Labor.

ワシントン - 琉球の労働組合指導者12人が、アメリカ労働総同盟・産業別組合会議（AFL-CIO）の関係者による昼食会で祝われた。
アメリカ労働総同盟・産業別組合会議国際部のマイケル・ロス部長が訪米を歓迎した。
団員は以下の通り。沖縄港湾荷役労組の米須隆実行委員長、全沖運輸労組の砂川恵裕組織局長、琉球海運労組の浜端春栄実行委員長、W.W.テイラー労組の金城賢一実行委員長、琉球政府労働局労組の赤嶺武次委員長、沖縄全通信労組の西平賀親実行委員長、琉球政府立法院労組の新垣勝市書記長、琉球政府工務交通局労組の平良清安実行委員長、那覇市役所労組（第2号）島袋勇委員長、宮古地方庁労組の川満和男委員長、石垣造船造機労組の比屋根松助委員長、及び琉球政府労働局政策課の真栄田朝助氏。
4月3日、メリーランド州アナポリスのセント・ジョンズ・カレッジでの6週間の研修を終えた一行は、3週間のアメリカ産業センター視察を皮切りに、アメリカの労働組合の実態を知ることになる。
米国での労働組合指導者の研修は、米国防総省と労働省の共同支援の下で行われる。
