MASTER CAPTION:
Some eighty students of the American Kubasaki Nine High School, Okinawa translated their classroom studies on ecology into practical application on the beaches of Onna-Son, northwestern Okinawa, with the hearty cooperation of Son Mayor Kotoku Toyama and Assembly Chairman Seiichi Kohagura on May 20. The students, under the supervision of their teacher, Miss Cathleen Fox, launched a two-pronged attack on the pileup of trash: a clean up of beaches coupled with recycling of useable trash. Lt. Col. Perry E. Peters, community relations officer, Public Affairs Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus (USCAR), coordinated the project with the school, municipal officials and U.S. Marines from Camp Courtney. The Marines provided four trucks to transport the trash and USCAR, two buses to transport the students. 【和訳】 写真は恩納村の海岸でびんや鉄くず等の利用できるチリを収集しているところ。
