Civil Administrator Gerald Warner (L) is pictured formally opening the Second Ryukyuan-American Senior High School Seminar in the Kubasaki Senior High School gymnasium Aug. 1. The two-week summer seminar in bi-national cultural and educational exchange brings together about 50 Ryukyuan and 25 American boys and girls at the school. The objectives of the seminar is to promote friendship and understanding between Ryukyuan and American students through enjoying classroom study, athletics, and social events as a group. The Education Departments of U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands and Government of the Ryukyu Islands coordinated the seminar's academic arrangements, including curricula, social and sports events, and the hiring of the Ryukyuan and American staff and faculty.

ジェラルド・ワーナー民政官(左)が、8月1日に久場崎米人高校体育館において第2回琉米高校生セミナーを開幕させた。2週間のサマーセミナーでは、琉球から約50人、アメリカから約25人の少年少女が参加した。セミナーの目的は、琉球人学生とアメリカ人学生が集団で授業や運動、交流会などを楽しむことで、友好と理解を深めることである。琉球列島米国民政府教育部と琉球政府が、カリキュラム、社会・スポーツイベント、琉球人とアメリカ人スタッフ・教員の雇用、施設など、セミナーの手配を調整した。
