HIROYUKI IWAKI, conductor of the world-renowned 110-man symphony symphony orchestra of the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK). The 31-year-old conductor will conduct the NHK Symphony concert at Stilwell Fieldhouse, Okinawa on Feb. 16. Immediately after Iwaki graduated from the Tokyo Arts University in 1954, he became an assistant conductor of the NHK symphony orchestra. Since then he has had broad experience as a talented guest conductor of the world's great orchestras in Japan and other countries. The NHK orchestra concert on Okinawa will be under the auspices of the Office of the High Commissioner as a charity performance with all proceeds to be donated to the Okinawa Recreation and Welfare Association.
THE WORLD-RENOWNED symphony orchestra of the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) will appear on Okinawa on Feb. 16 at the invitation of High Commissioner Paul W. Caraway. The NHK symphony concert will be conducted under the baton of 31-year-old Hiroyuki Iwaki in the Stilwell Fieldhouse, Sukiran, The performance on Okinawa will be the first of a series of concerts scheduled in a Southeast Asia and Western Pacific tour of the orchestra this year. The NHK symphony was organized in 1926. Since then it has developed into one of the first rank symphony orchestras of the world. The unit recently made a four-month world tour, including India, the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Austria, Germany, Italy, Yugoslavia, England, France and the United States. The orchestra performed to an enthusiastic crowd in Stilwell Fieldhouse in October, 1962.

世界的に有名なNHK交響楽団が、ポール・W・キャラウェイ高等弁務官の招きにより2月16日に沖縄公演を行う。演奏会は31歳の指揮者・岩城宏之の指揮で、瑞慶覧のスティルウェル・フィールドハウスで開催される。沖縄公演は、同楽団が今年予定している東南アジアおよび西太平洋地域演奏ツアーにおける最初のコンサートとなる。NHK交響楽団は1926年の創設以来、世界トップクラスの交響楽団へと発展してきた。同楽団は最近、インド、ソ連、チェコスロバキア、ポーランド、オーストリア、ドイツ、イタリア、ユーゴスラビア、イギリス、フランス、そしてアメリカを含む4か月におよぶ世界ツアーを実施。1962年10月にはスティルウェル・フィールドハウスで、熱狂的な観客を前に演奏を披露した。
