PRESENTING BASEBALLS to captains of each high school team at the opening ceremony of the 1966 Ryukyuan-American Friendship Baseball League, held April 16 at Onoyama Stadium, is league honorary president Lt. Col. Arthur Collins, Fort Buckner. Team captains are (L-R): Kenko Bise, Futenma; Takeyoshi Zukeyama (partly hidden), Konan; Ken Rhoden, Kubasaki (last year's league championship team); Tsuyoshi Takara, Oroku; and Yasuo Hirata, Chubu Shogyo. The league games will be played at Onoyama and Sukiran stadiums and Oroku High School athletic field from April 16 to May 14. Trophies will be awarded to the first end second place teams, and the island-wide championship team will be presented the Championship Flag.

1966年琉米親善高校野球リーグの開会式が4月16日奥武山球場で開催され、式典でリーグ名誉会長のフォート・バックナーのアーサー・コリンズ中佐が各高校チームの主将に記念ボールを贈呈した。各チームの主将は（左から）普天間高校のビセ・ケンコウ、興南高校のズケヤマ・タケヨシ（一部のみ）、クバサキ・ハイスクール（前年度優勝校）のケン・ローデン、小禄高校のタカラ・ツヨシ、中部商業高校のヒラタ・ヤスオ。リーグ戦は4月16日から5月14日まで、奥武山球場、ズケラン・スタジアム、小禄高校グラウンドで行われる。優勝校および準優勝校にはトロフィーが授与され、島内優勝チームには優勝旗が贈られる。
