TRIANGULAR FRIENDSHIP TRACK AND FIELD MEET -- U.S. Forces-Kyushu-Ryukyus Triangular Friendship Track and Field Meet was held at the Nago athletic field (northern Okinawa) on Nov. 7. In the opening ceremony, chairman Kan Yasukawa of the Kyushu Inter-Prefrectural [Prefectural?] Field and Track Meet, expressed appreciation for the cooperation of the U.S. Forces and expressed hope that the event will prove to be of great significance for U.S.-Japan-Ryukyus friendship. U.S. High Commissioner, Lt. Gen. Donald P. Booth, said in an address, "there is no better way to overcome the barriers of language and culture than on the athletic field". PHOTO -- Some 10,000 spectators stand as Japan and U.S. national flags are raised before the meet.

三者親善陸上競技大会 - 米軍・九州・琉球の三者陸上競技大会が11月7日、名護陸上競技場（沖縄北部）で開催された。開会式では九州各県対抗陸上競技大会のヤスカワ・カン会長が、米軍の協力に対する謝意を表すとともに、この大会が米国・日本・琉球の親善に大きな意義を持つことを期待すると述べた。また米国民政府ドナルド・P・ブース高等弁務官はあいさつで「言語や文化の壁を乗り越える方法として、競技場に勝るものはない」と述べた。写真は大会開始前に日米両国の国旗掲揚で起立する、およそ1万人の観客たち。
