Government of the Ryukyu Islands Chief Executive Seisaku Ota (R) explains Ryukyuan products displayed in his office, Dec. 16. RYUKYUAN PRODUCTS -- Dr. Clarence L. Hodge (L), deputy director, Department of Planning and Economic Development, State of Hawaii, called on Chief Executive Seisaku Ota of the Government of the Ryukyu Islands on Dec. 16, and discussed promotion of trade, business, technical, managerial and cultural relationships between the Ryukyus and Hawaii. Here, Chief Executive ota is explaining Ryukyuan products displayed in his office to Dr. Hodge. The Hawaiian official arrived Saturday and is scheduled to depart on Dec. 18. The Ryukyuan and Hawaiian island groups have many close ties as a result of the migration of Okinawans to Hawaii starting from the year 1899, and the cities of Naha, Okinawa and Honolulu, Hawaii enjoy a "sister-city" affiliation. 【和訳】琉球製品 - ハワイ州計画経済開発局副局長のクラレンス・ホッジ博士(左)は12月16日、大田政作琉球政府行政主席を訪問し、琉球とハワイの貿易、ビジネス、技術、経営、文化関係の促進について話し合った。写真は大田主席が職務室に展示されている琉球製品をホッジ博士に説明しているところ。博士は土曜日に到着し、12月18日に出発する予定。琉球とハワイの島々は、1899年から始まったハワイへの移住で多くの密接な関係を築いており、那覇市とハワイのホノルル市は姉妹都市提携を結んでいる。
