GOVERNOR BURNS OF HAWAII (2nd from R) presented University of the Ryukyus' President Hatsusuke Yonamine (R) with a gift of microfilm from the East-West Center, University of Hawaii on June 14. The 19 reels of microfilm included "Rekidai-Hoan", collection of documents on foreign relations of the Ryukyu Islands from volume 1 to volume 65, in eight reels and the Okinawa Times from July 1948 to December 1954 in eleven reels. High Commissioner Paul. W. Caraway (2nd from L) and Mr. Samuel H. Kitamura (L) deputy chief, Cultural Affairs Division, Office of Public Affairs, Office of the High Commissioner, also attended the film presentation ceremony. ≪バーンズ ハワイ州知事（右から2番目）は6月14日、琉球大学を訪問し、与那嶺松助学長（右）にハワイ大学の東西文化センターから贈られたマイクロフィルムを手渡した。贈呈されたマイクロフィルムは全部で19本で、うち8本には琉球の外交関係を記録した歴代宝案第一巻から第65巻までをおさめられており、残り19本には沖縄タイムス紙（1948年7月から1954年12月まで）がおさめられている。フィルムの贈呈式にはポールW.キャラウェイ高等弁務官（左から2番目）と高等弁務官府渉外報道局文化事業家のサムエルH.北村次長も出席した。≫
GOVERNOR JOHN A. BURNS OF HAWAII, accompanied by Mrs. Burns; Mr. Daniel T. Aoki, his administrative aide; and, Hawaii State Representative Toshio Serizawa, visited Okinawa on June 13 and 14 during the governor's tour of the Far East on behalf of promotion of tourism and commerce to Hawaii and the mainland United States. On Okinawa, the Governor made courtesy calls on leading U.S. and Ryukyuan officials, and met with local business and civil leaders and groups, and with United States Army, Air Force, Marine and Navy military and civilian personnel from Hawaii stationed on Okinawa. The Governor was honored at social affairs hosted by High Commissioner Paul W. Caraway, the Ryukyu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Hui O Hawaii, an organization of Hawaiians resident on Okinawa. ≪ジョン A. バーンズ ハワイ州知事はハワイ及び米本土と極東間の観光と商業の振興のための極東訪問の途次6月13日と14日の2日間、夫人、秘書のダニエル T アオキ氏、トシオ セリザワ ハワイ州下院議員を伴って来沖した。同知事は沖縄で琉米の指導的官僚を儀礼訪問、実業及び民間指導者及び団体との会合、そしてハワイから沖縄に来ている米陸海空軍及び海兵隊及び民間人と会った。ポール W. キャラウェイ、琉球商工会議所、沖縄在住のハワイ市民の会であるフィオハワイがそれぞれ同知事のため歓迎会を催した。≫
