CHARLES LLOYD QUARTET -- The internationally acclaimed Charles Lloyd Jazz Quartet held a news conference at the Ryukyu Tokyu Hotel May 15 following its arrival to perform for Ryukyuan jazz fans. The first and second performances will be held May 16 and 17 at 6 p.m. at the Okinawa Times Hall in Naha, and the final performance is scheduled for May 18 at 7 p.m. at the Koza Ryukyuan-American Friendship Center. The group's Asia tour is under the auspices of the U.S. State Department Cultural Presentations Program. Members of the quartet are (L-R) Jane Getz, piano; Charles Lloyd, composer, tenor saxophonist and flutist; Paul Motian, drums; and Ron McClure, string bass.
