Larry Stinson, captain of the Kubasaki American High School team, greets his counterpart on the Konan High School team, as the two teams line up to open the 11th Ryukyuan-American Friendship Baseball league. The opening game in the round-robin league was played at the Camp Kue Stadium on April 15 and was won by the Konan nine, last year's champions. The league will continue through May 20 with games scheduled for the Camp Kue Stadium, the Sukiran Stadium, the Onoyama Stadium, and the Oroku Athletic Field. Competing in the league, sponsored by the Ryukyaian-American People-to-People Sports Committee, the Ryukyuan-American Cultural Centers and USARYIS Special Services, are teams from the Kubasaki, Konan, Oroku, Futenma, Okinawa, Suisan, Tomishiro and Chinen High Schools.

第11回琉球米友好野球リーグの開幕戦が総当たり戦で4月15日にキャンプ桑江スタジアムで行われ、昨年のチャンピオンの興南ナインが優勝した。リーグの試合は5月20日までキャンプ桑江スタジアム、瑞慶覧スタジアム、奥武山スタジアム、小禄競技場・フィールドで予定されている。琉米ピープルトゥピープルのスポーツ委員会、琉米文化会館、琉球列島米国陸軍スペシャルサービス後援のこのリーグ戦には久場崎、興南、小禄、普天間、沖縄、水産、豊見城、知念、各高校チームがそれぞれ覇を競う。
