Ryukyuan children in the six months through three years age group line up with their mothers for anti-polio immunization. This group of children received medicine on sugar cubes, rather than with jet injector.
ANTI-POLIO IMMUNIZATION--The third and final Sabin dose which has been completed in Okinawa and Miyako health center areas, is now being given in Yaeyama health center area and other off-shore islands. The Ryukyus-wide Sabin vaccine program will officially be completed on May 25; however, it will be continued for make-up immunization for all eligible children who have missed the first or second doses or who have not yet received any dose. Here, Ryukyuan children in the six months through six years age group line up with their mothers at Iheya public hall for the third and final immunization.

母親に連れられ、列になってポリオ予防接種を受ける生後6か月から6歳までの子ども達。 投与はジェット注入器ではなく、角砂糖に薬を含ませて行われた。
ポリオ予防接種--沖縄と宮古保健所では経口ポリオワクチンの最終回となる3回目投与が終了し、現在は八重山保健所及びその他の離島で実施中。ワクチン投与計画は5月25日に終了するものの、1回目および2回目を受けなかった、あるいはまだ1回も受けていない児童には引き続き延長期間が設けられる。写真は母親に連れられた生後6か月から6歳までの子ども達が、伊平屋公民館で最後となる3回目投与を受けているところ。
