Members of the University of Kansas Brass Ensemble are shown completing an intensive rehearsal schedule in preparation for their tour of the Far East under auspices of the U.S. State Department Cultural Presentations Program. Shown in the foreground on trumpet are: (left to right) Lita B. Snodgrass; Linda G. Converse; Jon R. Irish; Charles L. Snodgrass, and Alvin L. Lowrey. Many of the student musicians play more than one instrument; all are training for careers in music. Many of them play to teach; others are working toward positions as instrumentalists in symphony orchestras and other professional organizations. The group will perform on Okinawa from Feb. 14 to 24 under the sponsorship of the Lions Clubs of the Ryukyu Islands.

カンザス大学ブラスアンサンブルのメンバーたちが、米国務省文化交流プログラムの後援による極東ツアーに向けた集中的なリハーサルスケジュールを終えようとしている。手前のトランペット奏者は（左から）リタ・B・スノッドグラス、リンダ・G・コンバース、ジョン・R・アイリッシュ、チャールズ・L・スノッドグラス、アルヴィン・L・ローリー。多くの学生演奏者は複数の楽器を演奏でき、全員が音楽家としてのキャリアを目指している。彼らの中には音楽指導社を志す者もいれば、交響楽団やその他のプロの音楽団体で演奏者として活動することを目指す者もいる。同グループは琉球ライオンズクラブの後援で、2月14日から24日まで沖縄で公演を行う。
