ANTHONY MAYFIELD -- HAMMOND ORGAN SOLOIST-ACCOMPANIST FOR HANDEL'S MESSIAH CONCERTS -- PFC Mayfield, chaplain's assistant at the Army's Sukiran Chapel, will be at the Hammond organ as soloist and accompanist at performances this week and next. He studied music at Bourgard College of Music and Art and University of Louisville, Kentucky, from 1956 until he joined the Army in 1961. He has been the organist at the Zion Baptist Church in Louisville, the largest Negro church in Kentucky, before coming to Okinawa.
More than 100 singers from six international musical organizations, and top soloists and accompanists, are now ready for one of the biggest Messiah concerts ever performed on Okinawa. The famous oratorio, the Messiah, composed by Handal, will be performed by singers of a joint Protestant-Catholic church choir from Naha Air Base, the Okinawa Mormon Choir, Sukiran Army Chapel, the Naha Philharmonic Chorus. the Ishikawa Philharmonic Chorus and the Okinawa Chorus. Concerts will be performed at the Naha Air Base Chapel on Dec. 12 and 13, at the Naha Commercial High School Gymnasium on Dec. 16 and at Army's Sukiran Theater on Dec. 18. Each concert will start at 7:30 p.m.

6つの国際的な音楽団体から100名を超える歌手とトップクラスの独唱者・伴奏者たちが、これまで沖縄で開催された中でも最大規模のメサイアコンサートに向けて準備が行われている。≪ヘンデル作曲の有名なオラトリオ≫メサイアに参加するのは≪那覇空軍基地チャペルプロテスタント カトリック合同聖歌隊、沖縄モルモン聖歌隊、ズケランチャペル聖歌隊、那覇混声合唱団、石川混声合唱団、沖縄コールの6団体で演奏会は12日と13日那覇空軍チャペル、16日那覇商業高校体育館、18日ズケラン陸軍劇場でそれぞれ催される。尚、開演はいずれも午後7時半となっている。≫
