ARMY BAND CONCERT AT SHIMPO HALL -- The 29th Army Band presented an autumn concert at the Ryukyu Shimpo Hall in Naha, Nov. 12. Under the direction of CW 3 Victor L. Owens, the 25-piece band played such familiar melodies as Richard Rodgers' "The King and I," Johnny Merce-Dick Fenno's "Autumn Leaves," Kenneth Alford's "Army of the Nile," and Marshall Brown's "Copley Square," The band has entertained thousands of Ryukyuans since it came to Okinawa in 1947. ≪新報ホールで陸軍バンドの演奏会 - 米第29陸軍バンドは11月12日、琉球新報ホールで秋の演奏会を開催した。25名で編成する同バンドはビクター・L・オーエンス准尉の指揮のもとにR・ロージャス作曲の「王様と私」やJ・マーシャーとD・フエンノの「枯葉」、K・アル K・アルフォードの「ナイルの軍隊」並びにM・ブラウンの「カプリスクエア」等おなじみの曲目を演奏した。同陸軍バンドは1947年に来島して以来、多くの沖縄の音楽ファンを魅了した。≫
