FIFTH AIR FORCE BAND stationed at Fuchu near Tokyo presented a concert on April 24 at the Naha Ryukyuan-American Cultural Center in Yogi. Under the direction of Senior Master Sergeant Elliot V.V. Maxwell, substituting for the regular conductor, Capt. Benny Knudsen, who was ill, the 45-piece band performed such Japanese songs as "Sakura", "Tokyo Ondo", ''Tairyo Utaikomi" and "Soran Bushi"; Glenn Osser's "Bandolero", and "Beguine for Band", Rogers and Hammerstein's ''Sound of Music", and seven other melodies. The concert at the Naha center (pictured above) was held as a final event of the 13th Annual International Library Week. The band also presented a concert at the Nakanomachi Primary School on April 25 under the auspices of the Koza City Office and the Koza Chamber of Commerce. Arrangements for both concerts were coordinated by Public Affairs Dept., USCAR. ≪第五空軍バンドによるコンサート - 東京の府中に駐屯する第五空軍バンド（45人編成）は去る土曜日（24日）に那覇琉米文化会館でコンサートを催した。エリオット・V・V・マックスウェル特務総長の式のもとに、同バンドは日本の「さくら」や「東京音頭」、「大漁うたいこみ」「そーらん節」、グレーン・オサーの「バンドロレロ」や「バンドのためのビギン」、ロージャース・ハーマスティンの「サウンド・オブ・ミュージック」、他7曲を披露した。那覇でのコンサートは第13回国際図書館週間の行事の一環として行われたものである。同バンドは、更に日曜日（25日）、コザ商工会議所主催、コザ市役所後援により中の町小学校でコンサートを催した。同バンドの沖縄後援の手続きや段取りは米国民政府広報局によってなされた。≫
