INTERNATIONAL YOUTH JUDO TOURNAMENT -- An international friendship youth judo tournament was held at the Ryukyuan-American Cultural Center, in Naha, Okinawa, Aug. 23. The tournament was held with the cooperation of the U.S. Army, Ryukyu Islands (USARYIS) Special Services Youth Activities, the Okinawa Judo Association and the Youth Judo Club of Nabari City, Mie Prefecture, Japanese mainland. Following the round-robin team matches, Acting Civil Administrator Bruce T. Falls presented the team championship trophy to Keith Nakasone, team captain of the USARYIS Youth Judo Club; the outstanding judoist trophy to his twin brother, Burt Nakasone, soon entering the 10th grade, Kubasaki American High School, Okinawa, and the "Kantosho" ("most fighting spirit") trophy to Isamu Nakasone, (no relation), 9th grade, Futenma Junior High School, Okinawa, respectively. Participation plaques were presented to each judoist by Mrs. William Clark, president, USCAR Women's Club. The club donated prizes and funds for incidental expenses for the tournament. The seven members of the Nabari Youth Judo Club were invited by the USARYIS Special Services Youth Activities and were house guests of members of the USARYIS Youth Judo Club while on Okinawa. The Nabari visit returned a similar visit made to Nabari City last year by the American judo club.

USCAR婦人クラブ会長ウィリアム・クラーク夫人から、名張少年柔道クラブの山田敏雄に参加記念楯が授与される。
国際少年柔道大会 - 国際親善少年柔道大会が8月23日、那覇の琉米文化会館で開催された。大会は琉球列島米陸軍のスペシャルサービス青少年活動、沖縄柔道協会、三重県名張市少年柔道クラブの協力で開催された。総当たり戦の後、民政官代理ブルース・T・フォールズから、琉球列島米陸軍少年柔道クラブの主将キース・ナカソネへ団体優勝トロフィーが贈られ、最優秀選手賞はその双子の弟でクバサキ・ハイスクール10年生に進級予定のバート・ナカソネ、普天間中学校3年のイサム・ナカソネ（血縁関係なし）には敢闘賞が授与された。出場選手全員に、USCAR婦人クラブ会長ウィリアム・クラーク夫人から参加記念楯が贈られた。同クラブは大会の賞品および諸経費を寄付している。名張少年柔道クラブのメンバー７人は、琉球列島米陸軍スペシャルサービス青少年活動の招きで沖縄を訪問した。
