Members of the USARYIS Youth Judo Club are training for an international, friendship youth judo tournament, which will be held at the Naha Ryukyuan-American Cultural Center on Aug. 23. The tournament is being presented by the center with the cooperation of the U.S. Army, Ryukyu Islands (USARYIS) Special Services Youth Activities, the Okinawa Judo Association and the Youth Judo Club of Nabari City, Mie Prefecture, Japan mainland. The mainland team of seven high school students is being invited to Okinawa by the USARYIS Youth Judo Club and returns an invitation extended the USARYIS judo team by Nabari City in 1970. Tropies [Trophies?] for the winning team, the outstanding judoist and the judoist with most fighting spirit as well as participation plaques will be donated by the USCAR Women's Club. ≪8月23日那覇琉米文化会館で催される国際親善青少年柔道大会を前にUSARYIS青少年柔道クラブのメンバーは練習にはげんでいる。この大会は在沖米陸軍スペッシャルサービス部隊青少年活動部、沖縄柔道連盟及び三重県名張市青少年柔道クラブの共催で催される。名張市中高選抜チーム7人は在沖米陸軍青少年柔道クラブの招待で来島するもので、1970年名張市がUSARYISチームを招きそのお返しとして招待したもの。同大会の為に優勝チーム杯、最優秀選手賞、敢闘賞及び参加賞を米民政府婦人クラブが寄贈する事になっている。≫
