OKINAWA OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY PLANNERS -- led by Mr. Monta L. Osborne, director, Office of Public Affairs (OPA), Office of the High Commissioner, and Mr. Jugo Thoma, honorary president, Okinawa Athletic Association, met May 12 with visiting members of the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee's (TOOC) Torch Relay subcommittee to discuss arrangements for Okinawa's portion of the relay from Athens to Tokyo. The visitors expressed satisfaction with local plans to receive the Torch ceremonially when it arrives at the Naha Civil Air Terminal on Sept. 6, and to hold a 150-mile relay around Okinawa Island involving some 3,000 Ryukyuan runners divided into regular, ordinary and emergency categories. 沖縄オリンピック聖火リレー実行委員会 - 5月12日、来沖した東京オリンピック大会組織委員会聖火リレー小委員会メンバーとの会議が、米国民政府広報局≪モンタ L. オズボン局長及び沖縄体育協会名誉会長当間重剛氏も出席して行われたもの。聖火が9月6日那覇空航に到着した際、簡単な式を催し、又、沖縄本島で150マイルリレーを催す計画に本土からのオリンピック東京大会組織委員会代表は賛意を表した。この150マイルリレーには3000名の琉球人走者が参加、正規、普通、緊急班に別れる。写真左から右へ琉球政府保健体育課長仲村義永氏、当間氏、民政府渉外報道局文化事業部次長サムエル H. 北村氏、オリンピック東京大会組織委員会、競技部式典課長松戸節三氏、オリンピック東京大会組織委員会競技部式典係森西栄一氏及び高等弁務官府公安部長ハリマン N. シモンズ氏、オズボン氏は写真に入ってない。≫
