THE OLYMPIC TORCH PROGRAM COMMITTEE in the Ryukyu Islands held a meeting at the Harborview Club, Naha, on Mar. 20 to discuss the torch relay program on Okinawa which is scheduled for Sept. 6-9 this year. At this meeting Mr. Monta L. Osborne, director, Office of Public Affairs, Office of the High Commissioner (at head of table) acted as the chairman of the committee on behalf of Col. William R. Reilly, Information Coordinator to the High Commissioner. Four members on the left are: Mr. Choko Ogimi, chief, social education section, Education Dept.; Mr. Giei Funakoshi, chief public information sec., Administrative Services Dept.; Mr. Giei Nakamura, chief, physical education sec., Education Dept., all of the Government of the Ryukyu Islands; and Mr. Bill Bechtel, athletic director, American Dependent Schools. At the right of Mr. Osborne is Mr. Samuel H. Kitamura, assistant chief, Cultural Affairs Div., Office of Public Affairs, Office of the High Commissioner. The four members (from the fourth to the right at the right side of the table) are Mr. Kunio Matsukawa, secretary-general, Ryukyu Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr. Bill Morris, sports editor, Morning Star; Mr. Hojun Nakada, principal of Naha Senior High School and chairman of the Senior High School Athletic Association; and Mr. Seiki Shimabuku, principal of Uenoyama Junior High School in Naha and chairman of the Junior High School Athletic Association. Present but obscured are Lt. Col. George E. Allen, information officer, USARYIS; Mr. Shui Ikemiyagi, president, Ryukyu Shimpo; Mr. Shinboku Tokashiki, chairman, Okinawa Athletic Association; Mr. Kazufumi Uechi, executive director, Okinawa Times; and Maj. William M. Yeager, information services officer, 3d Marine Division.≪琉球オリンピック聖火委員会は去る3月20日、ハーバービュークラブで会合を開き、今年9月6日から9日に沖縄を通る事になっている聖火リレーの計画について話し合った。此の会合では高等弁務官付情報担当官ラリー大佐の代りにオズボン高等弁務官渉外報道局長（テーブルの中央）が委員長の役をつとめた。テーブルの左側は（前方より）大宜見社会教育課長、船越広報課長、仲村保健体育科長、ベクテル米人学校体育部長。オズホン氏の右側は渉外報道局文化事業部副部長サムエル H. 北村氏で、テーブルの右側は（4人目より右側へ）松川商工会議所事務局長、モーニングスター紙モリススポーツ記者、仲田高校体育連合会長、島袋中校体育連合会長。尚、会合に出席したが此の写真ではっきりしていないのは米陸軍情報係官ジョーヂ E. アーレン中佐、池宮城琉球新報社長、渡嘉敷沖縄体育協会長、上地沖縄タイムス社専務、第三海兵師団情報係官ウィリアム M. イーガー少佐。≫
