A-11 JET AIRCRAFT
The new American experimental jet aircraft, designated the All, has been tested in sustained flight at more than 2,000 miles an hour (3,200 kph) and at altitudes in excess of 70,000 feet (21,000 meters). This and other information on the revolutionary craft was revealed by President Johnson at a news conference in Washington February 29. He said the performance of the All "far exceeds that of any other aircraft in the world today" and that its development was made possible by major advanced in aircraft technology "of great significance to both military and commercial application." He added that existence of the program was being disclosed "to permit the orderly exploitation of this advanced technology in our military and commercial planes." Several All aircraft are being flight-tested at Edwards Air Force Base in California. The plane has been under development since 1959.
