1958 TOUR OF JACK TEAGARDEN AND HIS SEXTET
Jack Teagarden is an outstanding figure in the history of jazz. From the beginning of his career he has had a technical facility for playing the trombone which few could equal and he was among the first to use the trombone as a solo instrument. Often a leader of his own band there has also been a tremendous demand for his services as a supporting musician to play and record with many of the great jazz groups. As a vocalist he has the same authentic phrasing that is so notably expressed in his trombone playing. (L) 1-9 Jack Teagarden performing at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival.
