RADIOACTIVE FALLOUT SURVEILLANCE LECTURE-DEMONSTRATION -- A radioactive fallout surveillance lecture-demonstration was presented by three U.S. Army, Ryukyu Islands chemical officers, using the most modern radioactive surveillance equipment, for top Ryukyuan Government officials and news media representatives at the Harborview Club on Nev. 17. Radioactive fallout and instrumentation problems were discussed by Major Joseph W. Searcy, chemical officer, U.S. Army, Ryukyu Islands; Captain Gordon D. Shingleton; deputy chemical officer, U.S. Army, Ryukyu Islands; and Major Charles W. Forsthoff, chemical officer, U.S. Army, 9th Logistical Command. Government officials attending the meeting were Hiroshi Senaga, deputy chief executive of the Government of the Ryukyu Islands; Shochi Oto, director of the GRI Administrative Affairs Department; Kotoku Gushi, chief of the GRI Weather Bureau; Kanzen Teruya, deputy director of the GRI Welfare Department, and Mamoru Oshiro, chief of agricultural section, GRI Economic Department.
