Returning to the United States recently, after spending 15 months near the South Pole, was a 38-yesr-old seismologist named Fen-King Change. Change holds the distinction of being the only Republic of China national to ever participate in Antarctic exploration. He is the first and only Asian to serve with American expeditions, thus far, in that continent. He tells how this came about, and comments on his experiences, in an article written exclusively for the U.S. Information Agency. The wind blows, there is little light, and the temperature reads 52 degrees (F) below zero, but a "crevice detector" goes about its job during a traverse in western Antarctica.
