NEW GRI MUSEUM OPENS -- Shown discussing and sharing the happy occasion of opening of the new Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI) Museum in Shuri, in front of the brand-new building Nov. 3, are; L-R; Yoshinobu Akamine, director, Education Dept., GRI; Seiko Hokama, curator, GRI Museum; Chizen Oshiro, director, GRI Museum; Seiho Matsuoka, chief executive, GRI; and Gerald Warner, civil administrator, U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands (USCAR). The museum was built with $321,000 in contributions by the United States and $254,000 from the GRI for part of the construction and cost of the land.

11月3日、首里の新しい琉球政府立博物館の前で、開館の喜びを分かち合う（左から）琉球政府文教局赤嶺義信局長、外間正幸博物館主事、大城知善博物館館長、琉球政府松岡政保行政主席、USCARジェラルド・ワーナー民政官。博物館は米国から32万1,000ドルと、琉球政府から建設費の一部と土地代として25万4,000ドルが拠出され建設された。
