RYUKYUAN CRAFTS DISPLAY -- Joseph S. Evans (R), director, Public Affairs Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus, and Yoshinobu Akamine, director, Education Dept., Government of the Ryukyu Islands, are shown cutting ribbon at the opening ceremony of a traditional Ryukyuan crafts display held at the Shuri Museum, Nov. 1. The exhibit is being held in commemoration of the Ryukyuan Cultural Properties Protection week, Nov. 1-7. The crafts shown are lacquerware, chinaware, textiles including bingata, yomitanzan, kumejima tsumugi, Ryukyuan Kasuri, and jofu of the Miyako and Yaeyama islands, samisen musical instruments, and others.
【和訳】首里の博物館で琉球工芸品展
11月1日に首里の博物館で開催された琉球伝統工芸展の開幕式で、テープカットを行うUSCAR広報局長ジョセフ・S・エバンス（右）と琉球政府文教局長の赤嶺義信。この展覧会は11月1日から7日までの琉球文化財保護週間を記念して開催される。展示されている工芸品は漆器、陶磁器、紅型を含む織物、読谷山、久米島紬、琉球絣、宮古・八重山の上布、三味線など。
