ANCIENT JAPANESE ARMOR PRESENTED TO GRI MUSEUM -- An ancient Japanese "Yoroi," a suit of armor worn by the Samurai in medieval Japan, and a "Byobu," a two-piece screen, were given the Government of the Ryukyu Islands Museum on April 25 by Kenneth R. Harbidge, director of development, James S. Lee Company. Mr. Harbidge received the armor and screen in 1954 during military service in Hokkaido, Japan and has treasured them since, taking them with him wherever he has gone -- "Just like a son," he says. Mr. Harbidge is now being assigned to Hong Kong, leaving here on April 28, and took this opportunity to present his treasures to the GRI museum. He is shown presenting the "Yoroi" and "Byobu" to Yoko Arakaki.
