DR. KERR INSPECTS RYUKYUAN CULTURAL PROPERTY -- Dr. George H. Kerr of the Honolulu Academy of Arts inspected a Ryukyuan bell at the Shuri Museum with Seiko Hokama, official of the Ryukyuan Cultural Protection Commission, on Nov. 8. Dr. Kerr spent three months in the Ryukyu Islands making a cultural survey of the islands. He is the author of "Okinawa: The history of an island people," published in 1958. Dr. Kerr has been concerned with Far Eastern affairs since 1929 when he began a program of Asian studies which continues to this day. His studies have taken him for extended periods of residence to Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Manchuria as well as much of China, South Asia, Europe and the middle East.【和訳】カー博士が首里博物館を訪問
琉球の文化財を視察 - ホノルル・アカデミー・オブ・アーツのジョージ・H・カー博士は11月8日、琉球文化財保護委員会の外間正幸とともに首里博物館で琉球の鐘を視察した。博士は文化調査のため、琉球列島に3ヶ月滞在した。1958年出版「琉球の歴史」の著者である博士は、1929年にアジア研究を始めて以来、東アジアの問題に関心を持ち続けている。研究のために日本、台湾、朝鮮、満州、中国、南アジア、ヨーロッパ、中東の地域に長期滞在してきた。
